Having had a few Beltex over the years, the breed reappeared with us early in the year of 2022 with the purchase of two ewe lambs from the Hackney dispersal in the form of Hackney Gucci, a Broughton Ale daughter out of the 5,000gns Hackney Cancan and Hackney Gabriella, an Airyolland Castro daughter out of the 10,000gns Hackney Chantilly.

These females have been flushed successfully so 2023 will be interesting to see how the progeny perform.

At the 2021 Perdi/Knighton dispersal of Percy Tait, we took a shine to a Bleu ewe in the form of Perdi Tamara who was the top price ewe lamb at the sale. She has since been flushed with pleasing results including a flashy ewe lamb to the right.

The Charollais, Blue Texels and Spotties will  continue to be the focus within the breeding programmes with the Beltex and Bleu’s remaining small in numbers.
